Longarm Services

I provide hand guided meandering, stippling, and computerized edge to edge quilting services.  The quilting services provided are completed on an APQS Millenium equipped with the APQS Quilt Path computerized system.  A 14’ frame provides the room to easily accommodate up to a super King Quilt with a width of up to 135 inches.  All work is conducted in a work environment that is both smoke and pet free.

Quilting Preparation

Steps to be taken before Quilting services

Piecing

Press your quilt top seams either open or to the side. If pressing to the side alternate the direction of the seams each row so they will nest together.  Nesting allows for the seams to lay flat while also avoiding twisted seams that may cause bulky and bumpy areas in the quilting.

Secure all seams, especially those on the edges when there are no borders on your quilt top.  Stitch an 1/8” stay stitching along all sides of your quilt top to stabilize it.

Please wait to put embellishments like beads or buttons on until after the quilting is complete.

Trim all excess threads on the back and front sides of your quilt top and ensure all pins are removed.

Mark top and backing if quilt top is directional.  Please mark the top with a safety pin. Remove all other pins.

Check to ensure your top is squared and the borders lie flat.

Disclaimer - Anne’s Mountain Quilting is NOT responsible for damage to the quilt due to open seams.  AMQ reserves the right to return a customers quilt at the customers’ expense.

Borders and Squaring

When piecing borders they must lay flat (Starching your fabric will aide with this).

Wavy borders can result in small puckers or tucks.

If your quilt is not squared and/or does not lay flat, it will cause wrinkles, pleats/folds and puckers/bunching on the top, bottom or sides of your quilt.

Fullness Disclaimer – Wavy/Fullness, puckers and/or tucks in a quilt top cannot be quilted out. I cannot guarantee that puckers and tucks can be smoothed and/or not sewn in.  Waviness or excessive fullness in the borders may result in quilt top corners not being square.  Starting off with a flatter and square quilt top will result in a completed flatter quilt outcome.

Batting

I exclusively use Quilter's Dream batting. Quilters Dream Select Cotton, Deluxe Cotton, Wool, Black Poly Select, and Poly Select are in stock. I can special order a different Quilters Dream batting not listed. If you would like a full list of the Quilters Dream offerings, please visit their site at
http://www.quiltersdreambatting.com/user-guide

I prefer to use my batting to ensure the best quality results.  I find there is some batting brands and lofts that tend to provide less than desirable quilting results. If you have any questions, please call.

Batting Disclaimer AMQ reserves the right to deny certain lofts, types or brands.

Backing

Backing and BATTING must be 8" to 10" longer in length and width than the quilt top (4" to 5" all around). For example, a 60" x 60" top would have a backing and batting that is 68-70" x 68-70".

Backing must be wrinkle free.

Backing edges should be straight cuts.

When seaming backing a horizontal seam is best as it loads on the quilt frame with less stress.

Ensure the use of at least a 5/8” seam allowance with selvages removed and press the backing seam open to lay flat.

I will do my best to center the quilt top with the backing seam. I cannot guarantee the backing will be perfectly centered with the quilt top once quilting begins due to material shrinkage and shift while being quilted.

Bed Sheets and Batik Backings will not be accepted, as they cause inconsistent stitching and constant thread tension problems due to the differences in weave and the manufacturing processes of these items.

Pricing and Shipping

Pricing is determined by quilt size in square inches. Edge to Edge quilting designs is where the design is the same on the entire quilt top from side to side and top to bottom.

All Edge-to-Edge designs range between $0.02 - $0.03 per square inch. The difference in the design prices depend on density of quilting. Tighter patterns take more time to quilt.

To get the number of square inches of your top multiply the width x length = square inches. Multiply square inches X $0.02.

Example of quilting cost for a 60 x 80= 4,800 square inches X $0.02=.$96.00
